TRAUTONIA

Trautonia was born in Vienna, where she studied Musical Theatre at the Schubert Conservatory. In 1990, she moved to Hamburg, attending the Vocaline School for Pop Vocals. In 1996, she met Matthias Schuster who influenced her to move into the electronic music scene. Soon after, she started processing her voice through electronic effects, creating songs and psychedelic sound scapes. Trautonia Capra and Matthias Schuster have been working together ever since, composing, producing and performing weird electronic pop music in their projects “Das Institut” and “Capra”.
In 2000, Trautonia first saw a Theremin and fell in love at once. Two weeks later she had her own. She took Theremin-lessons from Barbara Buchholz and later also from Lydia Kavina.
Trautonia made several Art-Installations called “Der geheime Wald” (The Secret Forest), an artificial indoor-forests made of real trees, light and photo-projections, where she also performed with her bands Capra, Das Institut and the experimental vocal quintet Voicenoise back in 2008.
Since 2010, she composed and performed theatre-music, the soundtracks for several short films and played live improvisations to several silent movies and at the moment, is working on her solo project Trautonia Capra.
